Our work with road trip experience

Our work with road trip experience (Pune-Manali-Pune)

Hello Travelers,

Well this road trip started with No because of following reasons:

  1. You cannot go for a road trip in this season
  2. You will sick because of the weather
  3. You need to carry RT PCR report and show it everywhere
  4. You cannot go by car. It is not possible to drive in Himachal Pradesh.

After convincing family members by giving promise of family trip once we are back, we (Rahul - Tushar - Mayur - Ajay) started our work while road trip journey. We spent good amount of time in planning things like where we will stay, which places we will visit, day wise plan and all... but nothing had happened as per our plan 😊.

As per plan we supposed to leave by 15th morning then we shifted our plan to 14th night and finally we left home at 13th night 😑😒

We spent good amount of time in analyzing which car will be efficient from below owned cars by us:

Nexon – Only Petrol – Approx. cost coming around Rs 66000 for 6000 km with average of 10

WagonR – Petrol + CNG – Approx. cost coming around Rs 30000 for 6000 km with average of 16

Considering the above calculations and checking the availability of CNG in the states where we supposed to visit, we decided to go with the WagonR option.

We all are working professionals so we will be working throughout the journey so we equipped our self with all the necessary arrangements (which I have listed as you read the blog) so that our work will not be impacted.

Where to stay? Is Advance booking needed everywhere?

As it is a month long journey and our Travel plan is dynamic so we have not done any advance booking. We decided to look for homestay or economic stay wherever we come close to agreed location.

We used booking.com / google to get the phone numbers of house owners and called l them to know the availability of the rooms.

This process saved good money for us and with this approach you can do bargaining to get a good deal.

You can also choose the nearby locations of the popular places for example we preferred to stay in Shogi which is of 15-20 min drive from Shimla instead of staying in Shimla.

In Uttarakhand you can find economic stay along with lunch – dinner facilities in Tapovan / Hrishikesh.

I have provided few contacts details where we stayed during our journey

Food? Water?

We found the water quality/taste in Uttarakhand was really good compare to the other states we visited. We preferred to carry the mineral water bottle of 5 litters / 2 liters to avoid any health issue.

During our journey we took many eatable and sustainable items with us like Biscuits, Homemade sweets like Laddus, Chivda , Groundnuts , chikki which saved the cost of breakfast. In case you got a home stay with Kitchen then you can purchase Maggi / Eggs for breakfast.

There are lots of Maggi Joins in Uttarakhand / Himachal Pradesh 😋

You will find an exceptional quality of parathas / chat items in the north region. I have listed the food items we tried in the summary section.

Entry fee / Passes required:

There is no entry fee in any of the state except Manali where we need to pay Rs 200 as a tax.

In order to go to the Rohatang Pass you will need a pass which you can book online.

Toll – Near about all of the highways are now equipped with FastTag so ensure that your fast tag is having sufficient balance 👍

Police Checking / Verification:

Local Police or State police may stop you to check your Vehicle. We found the police was supportive and whenever we asked for any help then they provided a good information.

While entering into the Gujrat your entire Vehicle will get checked for the alcohol as it is prohibited in the state.

Medicines:

We kept generic medicines with us for fever, cold , headache , pain , indigestion.

Shopping:

There is a local market in each state which sells famous local item. Whatever they quote you need to do the bargaining !!! Do bargaining without any shame is the key mantra to save your money else you will be conned. Also be careful in the temples as few peoples from temples can easily con you by offering some false things.
